Who is William Broad? |

What is this site about??Let us start with the basics...The Octopus's Garden is correct grammer, according to the Beatles. It is the name of one of their songs and the grammer is purposely incorrect. When the site was created, a good name seemed important. Paul, the site's owner, can easily say his favorite band is The Beatles and The Octopus's Garden was not only a good song, but it was a great name for a place. We like to think of this site as the "Rock Garden," I guess we found humor and irony in that name. Many visitors to the site have questioned why we have certain groups featured at the Garden. "Why do you want to pay homage to Pink Floyd?" "Why not the Rolling Stones?" "Paul McCartney is not dead! Why do you post that crap." Well, in all honesty we like all types of music and for the person who questioned the Stones, we're getting to them. The Octopus's Garden is not a site that we have created to worship "so-and-so" or to idolize "those guys." The site's owner has an unparalleled passion for music and believe that people can appreciate what they listen to only when it is understood. Lyrics have meaning, they are not simply a series of phrases strung together because they rhyme. American Pie for example, can only be appreciated when the lyrics are understood. You may be surprised to find that its words are actually about the worst times in American music history. If you don't like the Beatles or hate American Pie, give them a chance. If we provide information about a group that you don't like, visit their pages and maybe you will appreciate them because of the knowledge that you have gained.
